Elijah's Story...

5 February 2013

Elijah is doing very well, in 3 weeks time he will be 7 months old!  At around 5 months he started crawling backwards and we thought... any day now he will be going forwards...well we still waiting lol!  He has adapted quite well considering, however he does become very overwhelmed when surrounded by strangers and loud noises.  So we just having to work around that...lots of backwards and forwards between our house and the base.

chewing on a lekker piece of steak... good teething toy.
please pray for continued protection and peace for Elijah.  lots of love xxx

I haven't update this section for a long time, I think due to the fact that my hands have been full full full.  This page will be updated with pictures of Elijah as he grows up and the different phases that he is starting to go through.  Elijah is 19 weeks today and has officially started teething.  The 2 middle bottom incisors have started breaking through.  He has been an absolute joy and pleasure during the slingshot course.  He absolutely loves people and has had many wonderful words spoken over him.  I believe he is already being used by God with his warm and loving smile.  No matter who you are, he will smile at you! I believe that it touches people, especially those that are lacking love.  The Lord can work in so many ways to make someone feel His love!!

Well.... I am officially 38 weeks preggers today! And feeling like Elijah could come any second now!  Early hours on Sunday morning I thought that I was possibly in the very very early stages of labour...after a very long day waiting to see what would develop, I realised I was in false labour :-(
I have realised that waiting for Elijah to come when he is ready is a lot harder than I thought!  I am so eager to meet this little man and am truly feeling like a lady in waiting!

My Baby Shower (dressed as a teddy bear):
My punishment for guessing incorrectly-it was such torture dipping my face into a nappy full of chocolate, banana and nuts...after tasting the terrible looking treat, I guessed quite a few wrong haha
I think the next post in this section will be pictures of our beautiful baby boy Elijah, so look forward to sharing this new journey with you all.  xxx

D-Day is approaching quickly...I was on the phone to a friend today and whilst speaking to him realised that Elijah could be arriving in about 3 and 1/2 weeks time - eek!!! I can't believe it!! I am so excited, and praise The Lord for the peace that he has given me regarding the whole labour process that I have to go through :-)
Jared will be here for the next scan which is on the 25 June, I'm sure he is going to be shocked to see how big Eli is!  The below picture is of me at 33 weeks.

Last week I went for my 32 week scan and was blessed to hear that Elijah is growing perfectly, praise The Lord!  He is weighing just over 1.8kg and is predicted to weigh around 3.4kg - 3.6kg (according to the doctor).  You will see in the most recent scan that he is giving his dad a nice big thumbs up, just to let Jared know that he is doing well and enjoying my womb. haha

Sorry I have taken so long to give you an update on the baby.  My last doctors appointment was on 19 April, where the doctor told me she is happy with the way baby is growing. She confirmed that baby was indeed a boy, much to Jared and my delight! You will notice that we have already given baby boy a name Elijah, and I would love to just quickly share with you how we got that name.

For the last two years or so Jared and I were set on the idea that if we ever had a boy we would name him Gabriel.  We were completely at peace with this name and nobody would change our minds...
Then whilst we were in India we thought 'How much more meaningful and awesome would it be if The Lord named the baby, rather than us?' After all this baby is more His than ours.  So we started to pray, asking Him to give us a name for baby.
Then one day whilst I was praying I all of a sudden said "Lord, I pray for this baby, Elijah"... As I said this, I stopped praying and thought to myself "where did that come from?".  Elijah was not even on the list, we hadn't been speaking about Elijah either, so it was really out of the blue!  After telling Jared what happened, we thought perhaps this was a name from The Lord.  So I prayed to The Lord asking Him that if this was what He wanted us to name the baby, then could He please give me a love for the name...because I really did not like it, I wanted to name my baby Gabriel - Why couldn't The Lord choose that name?

Praise The Lord for answering our prayers and blessing us with this beautiful name for our baby boy, I could not imagine naming Elijah any other name.

29 weeks and starting to put on some weight!!

"Due to the emergency check up that needed to be done I did not have my scan where and when I was supposed to, so the quality of the scan is not great, this is why I have not updated the blog with a recent picture of baby.

The baby is really starting to move a lot now, especially during worship sessions. One of the songs say ' you've turned my mourning into gladness', (the actions are to spin around)... I don't do this as I might fall over, but the baby was listening and participated by doing somersaults.

Baby bump is really starting to show now, and I find I feeling more and more like an old woman, with each inch that it grows.  It really is such a blessing have this bundle of joy, we are starting to get very excited for when this baby arrives."

LOTS OF LOVE AND BLESSINGS
